How do Peaceful World Conversations promote a culture of global peace?

How we model the kind of world we want can be achieved in numerous or perhaps infinite ways. Here at the Peaceful World Center, we believe that many of the problems in today’s world are due to a fundamental lack of empathy for others’ views and experiences. Understanding begins with taking the time to talk - and listen- to the others around us. By bringing together a diverse group with different perspectives around a World Conversation table, and talking about personal experiences rather than abstract theory, we are increasing and encouraging understanding and thereby actively participating in the creation of a new global paradigm.

We define peace as a harmony and unity between all peoples and groups. The interconnectedness created by bringing people together to forge personal relationships is helping to lay the foundation for a more peaceful world. A culture of global peace is thus created by and defined by the following:

  • People Connecting with each other
  • A space to share experiences
  • PPP (People-to-People Peace)
  • Recognition of differences and commonalities
  • Appreciation of other’s worth / other perspectives
  • Promotion of empathy and understanding
  • Free exchange of ideas and innovation

Relationships that are built in the Peaceful World Conversation forum connect people that may never have had the opportunity to meet had they not participated. Through casual encounters and the sharing of personal experience- from hardships to triumphs- deep bonds form that interlink people and build a growing harmony.
