China Project at Shanghai Youth Hostel/On the Land

Here in China, English Corners have been a nationwide phenomenon for the past 20 years. Folks come together in public parks, on university campuses...and talk in small groups, about anything/everything, including the FUTURE.
As a MovieMagic English teacher in China for the past 9 years, I have participated in ECs all over China, and see such gathering to be in the spirit of social transformation:

THREE BASIC STRATEGIES FOR MOTIVATING TRANSFORMATION

1. Promote the new. Or..."increase the perceived value
of the new idea." This is the principal work of the
Change Agents, but they certainly depend upon the work
of the Innovators, who make a 'cool' product initially.

2. Critique the old. Or..."decrease the perceived value
of the status quo by attacking it, either directly or
subtly, in short, making the old way of doing things
seem uncool. This is generally the work of the
Iconoclasts, though Change Agents also help.

3. Facilitate the switch. "This is the most important
and the least obvious strategy for making change happen.
It is also where many change efforts fail, because they
forget to reduce the perceived cost of making the
change."

Here in Shanghai, we have just reached agreement with the owners of Captains Club, located at Captains International Youth Hostel, to develop a (whole-brained)Mandarin-English-Spanish Movie Magic Community Language Learning project, in combination with Tai Chi training by my teacher, Master Yun, who has given Summer Camps for Master George Xu in San Francisco, for 2 years. This is a SYNERGY opportunity, for learning&earning&living-at-the-hostel. In Shanghai, English Conversation partners typically get 150--200 RMB/hour.

We welcome opportunities for cooperation w/you folks!
Folks from there could come here, and vice versa.
Key element is Plane Tickets, via Barter arrangement...offering language training to airline staff, in exchange for plane tickets.
For folks concerned about China-as-a-BlackHat-nation, keep in mind that this project is in the spirit of THREE BASIC STRATEGIES FOR MOTIVATING TRANSFORMATION. By being income-generating, this project (in Shanghai as well as in the countryside) will be sustainable, with the aim being the development of a communitarian cooperative economic organization...for generations, able to weather whatever comes.

Thank you for being an inspiration to me

Dear Sami Sunchild

I just wanted to connect. I am a student just now working up the confidence to take out loans to pursue alternative education to go to school for permaculture, sustainable design, and dance. Thanks for being an inspiration!

My Tourism Business and Paradise

Well, aren't you just a gorgeous visionary, Sami?! (Remember, I'm the young guy from Indonesia who came and visited you last year while I was in San Francisco?)

What a beautiful profile shot, and what a wonderful person you are. It was inspirational being at your cafe, meeting you, and reading about your life.

It's been some time since I've been on Zaadz / Gaia but I'm feeling a pull to return here a bit. And to connect with amazing people like yourself.

I've been doing a lot of work on my own tourism business, and have created a paradise amongst tropical waters at a resort I've been creating called TIVER - Tiger Islands Village & Eco Resort.
The website is up at www.pulaumacan.com.

I'd like to begin facilitating discussions so will be checking in on your websites soon. I'd be thrilled to be a part of your network.

Just a quick note to send my love, my thanks, and to wish you a beautiful day.

Namaste,

drigo
